Suzhou (Chinese: ; pinyin: Sūzhōu; Suzhou dialect: [səu tsøʏ]), previously transliterated as Su-chou, Suchow, and Soochow, is a major city located in the southeast of Jiangsu Province in Eastern China, located adjacent to Shanghai Municipality. The city is situated on the lower reaches of the Yangtze Riverand on the shores of Taihu Lake and is a part of the Yangtze River Delta region. Administratively, Suzhou is a prefecture-level city with an urban population of over 4 million expanding to over 10 million in the administrative area.

Originally founded in 514 BCE, Suzhou has over 2,500 years of rich history, and relics of the past are abundant to this day. The city's canals, stone bridges,pagodas, and meticulously designed gardens have contributed to its status as one of the top tourist attractions in China. Since the Song Dynasty (960-1279), it has also been an important centre for China's silk industry. The classical gardens in Suzhou were added to the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1997 and 2000. Suzhou is often dubbed the "Venice of the East" or "Venice of China".

 

Shanghai Wildlife Zoo - 06.06.2011

Located 35 kilometers from downtown Shanghai, in Nanhui District, near Pudong Area. The 3100 acres wildlife preserve, which allows visitors to view herds of exotic animals as they might have been seen in their native Africa and Asia, it opened to the public in 1995.

As you will see, although the large field enclosures allow the animals to roam freely in herds, the Wildlife Zoo also has many attractions, which allow for truly interactive experiences.

The large enclosure makes it possible to maintain animals in their natural herd structure. Therefore, the animals you see still keep their special wild characters, which you cannot see in other zoos.

The Wildlife Zoo collects it animals from all over the world, currently the collection of animals contains more than 10,000 different kinds of endangered animals, species and subspecies.

Among them over 200 are extremely rare and precious, like white rhinoceros, hunting leopard, giant panda, snub-nosed monkey, south China tiger, Asian elephant, and other domestic rare animals.

 

Shanghai ZOO - 02.07.2011

After half a century of development the Shanghai Zoo has become one of the best ecological gardens in Shanghai. The zoo houses and exhibits more than 6,000 animals, among which are 600 Chinese animals that include the giant pandagolden snub-nosed monkeySouth China Tigerhoopoeblack bulbulscimitar-horned orax, great hornbills and bractian camels. The original golf course design has been basically preserved. There are a total of 100,000 trees with nearly 600 species planted in the zoo. The green areas or lawns cover and area of 100,000 square meters. The zoo endeavors to create an ecologically friendly environment for the animals - the 'Swan Lake' with its natural reed clumps and trees providing shade for pelicansgeese, black swans, night herons and other birds, is a perfect example of this.

The Shanghai Zoo provides areas for amusement and leisure, opportunities for visitors to increase their knowledge of the various animals and combines this with scientific and technical research to help people better understand and protect animals. Since the zoo was established it has been host to over 150,000,000 visitors

The aim of the Shanghai Zoo is to have visitors leave with a better understanding of and appreciation for the animals and their environment

 

Mount Mogan 04-10-2010

Mount Mogan (Chinese莫干山pinyinMògàn Shān) is a mountain located in Deqing CountyHuzhouZhejiang Province, China. It is sixty kilometers away from the city of Hangzhou and 200 km from Shanghai.

It is part of the Moganshan National Park and at its base is the small village of Moganshan.

Known for its cool temperatures during the scorching summers, it has long been the playground of the Shanghai elite in the past. Today, Moganshan mixes a country lifestyle with a mix of local inns and old villas built early in the 20th century.

Hangzhou (Chinese杭州Hangzhou dialect: ɦaŋ tsei; Mandarin pinyin: Hángzhōu Mandarin pronunciation: [xɑ̌ŋtʂóʊ] ( listen)), formerly transliterated as Hangchow, is the capital and largest city of Zhejiang Province in Eastern China. Governed as a sub-provincial city, and as of 2010, its entire administrative division ("shì", 杭州市) or prefecture had a registered population of 8.7 million people.[2] The Urban agglomeration of the Hangzhou metropolitan area (杭州市区) has a resident population of 3.9319 million as of 2003, of which 2.6367 million are permanent residents. There are 1.91 million residents in the six urban core districts.

A core city of the Yangtze River Delta, its position on the Hangzhou Bay 180 kilometres (110 mi) southwest of Shanghai gives it economic power, and moreover, it has also been one of the most renowned and prosperous cities of China for much of the last 1,000 years, due in part to its beautiful natural scenery; the city's West Lake is its most well-known attraction.
